Dr. Folan

Dr. Folan was raised in the Boston area. He pursued his undergraduate degree at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. Upon graduation he served in the Peace Corps in Korea and taught English at Yonsei University in Seoul Korea before beginning medical school there. He transferred to Georgetown University where he obtained his medical degree in 1983.

 

Dr. Folan did his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. He then served three years as a commissioned officer and general internist in U.S. Public Health Service at the Chinle Indian Health Hospital in Arizona before returning to Dartmouth for his subspecialty fellowship training in gastroenterology.

 

His areas of special interests include diseases of the liver and pancreas, inflammatory bowel disease and advanced endoscopic procedures. Dr. Folan and his wife Kay and two college-aged children have lived in Colorado Springs since 1991. He is an avid skier, golfer, and until just recently had been playing ice hockey since childhood.
