Dr. Mitchell finished her internal medicine training at the University of Maryland in Baltimore before returning to the University of Kansas University Medical Center for subspecialty training in gastroenterology. Between her residency and fellowship she volunteered at a hospital in Nepal and the St. Jude Hospital in St. Lucia. While in fellowship training she also worked as an emergency physician at a VA Medical Center. Besides performing medical research while in training and co-authoring several important medical articles, Dr. Mitchell has actively participated in clinical research while in private practice. Her areas of special interest include women’s digestive issues and colon cancer screening and prevention. She loves her family, dogs, and activities outdoors including travel. She enjoys hiking and has completed the Ascent of Pikes Peak. Her hobbies include snowboarding, and learning to surf and scuba dive. Education/Experience
