Welcome!
Hello! Thank you for being here. I’m Dr. Sue Mitchell, and on behalf of Gastroenterology Associates of Colorado Springs, I would like to welcome you to our blog. We can’t wait to share our passions, tell personal stories and incorporate some humor when tackling the issues that might be embarrassing.
I started this blog, but it will be a collaborative journey from our practice. Brene Brown (link),PhD LMSW, one of the leading researchers of authenticity says “Our stories are meant to be shared.” By sharing our stories, we are brought closer together and that is what our goal is here at GACS. We believe that authenticity is one of the keys to medicine; And we know that’s a two-way street. With honesty and trust between us, we have a much better chance of getting to the root of your problems. This blog will serve as a gateway to the GACS team on a personal level and will help break down any uncomfortable barriers that may be between us in our provider-patient relationships. We hope with each weekly scroll you do, you feel a deeper connection to us here at the practice and trust us to help you reach your optimal health.
What to expect
This blog will be home to discussions of frequently asked questions, a glimpse into our personal stories, talking about what makes us tick, and everything in between. You will be able to use this blog as a resource for information, as well as a way to better get to know the practice and what we care about.
It will serve as a free flow of our practice’s beliefs and values with information we find useful, interesting, and impactful for you. We have been practicing Gastroenterology for over 23 years, and with those years have come many pearls of wisdom. You’ll find information on digestive health and other GI related topics, but we aim to address health as a whole and incorporate other topics like mental health, nutrition, and more.
Plus, there’s no doubt it can be uncomfortable talking face to face with a stranger… So hopefully this blog can help ease any anxiety there may be for your next office visit. One of our goals with this blog is to help create more authentic relationships by establishing a comfortable environment for our patients.
We are like you
We are each on a journey and we believe that every personal experience can help and shape medical practices. We are passionate about being honest and building trust with you.
Sure, we have tons of experience practicing medicine, but we are looking to offer more than that here. We want a trusted relationship and personal touch that can only be attained by discussing the uncomfortable topics with you. By exploring vulnerability, we hope to open the door for you to feel an openness with us that allows honest conversations.
See you next time
We are working to go beyond traditional medicine and embrace authenticity. So, with each new blog, we will provide you with a new look into the world of wellness, our way. We are excited to have you with us. Let us know what you think, and how this blog can help you.
